Boys Football, Poulner Junior School
April 25th 2009
Whilst the girls netball competition was unfolding the other side of the school, the boys football was also taking place. This too was another exciting tournament with twenty teams and two-hundred boys taking part.
The Group stages were very close. A strong Ringwood team were the only ones to make it out of the groups without dropping any points and looked favourites from early on. Other teams from Poulner, New Milton, Blackfield, Pennington, Ashley and Marchwood made it through to the quarter-finals.
It was Ringwood and New Milton that won their games comfortably with New Milton and Marchwood winning theirs on a penalty shoot-out. The semi-finals were very close with one goal separating both matches.
This meant that Ringwood and Marchwood would then play each other for the bronze medal, which New Milton won by one goal. In the final it was a very close game also with Ringwood trying to preserve their 100 percent record against a strong and determined Pennington team. Eventually it was local team Ringwood winning the match and the competition for the third time in seven years.
The referees this year were again supplied by Testwood Sports College.
